The Dutch Burgher community had its own journal from 31 March to (58 numbers), the Journal of the Dutch Burgher Union of Ceylon. No volumes were published between andmostly due to the exodus of many Dutch Burghers.
Now the Journal continues to be published annually. Portuguese Burghers feel and realize that the Burghers are not recognized as a community in Sri Lanka for following reasons. In the census Portuguese Burghers are mentioned as others, even in the District Secretariat statistical book too.
